Gluten-Free and PALEO Resource Links
Throughout this experience, I have spoken about the importance of going gluten-free, wheat-free, and about the virtues of the PALEO diet.
I am a strong proponent of the Paleo Diet, because it is an anti-inflammatory diet – consisting of lots of GRASS-fed animal products like chicken, turkey, beef, lamb, bison, and eggs, as well as wild fish (such as salmon), salads, veggies, healthy nuts (no peanuts), and healthy fats (butter, olive oil), but NO grains, NO wheat, NO gluten at all. The whole basis of the diet is to concentrate on foods rich in healthy ratio of omega 3 to omega 6, which is ideally 1:1. Grain-fed animal products contain an unhealthy ratio of 1:20 which causes and contributes to inflammation in the body, and therefore disease. Also, a little known fact is that grass-fed animal products contain important CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid), which you cannot get from any other source.
Now, there is:
A lot of these problems, problems related to Gluten, we’ve discussed in prior Updates:
- depression and anxiety
- intestinal permeability
- improper digestion
- malabsorption of nutrients, causing malnutrition (often undiagnosed)
- celiac disease
- Vitamin B12 defiency, which if it goes undiagnosed can lead to pernicious anemia
- problems with concentration
- Leaky Gut Syndrome
- extra-intestinal symptoms of joint pains, skin rashes, eye problems
- and of course digestive issues of: diarrhea, constipation, bloating, gas, cramping, abdominal pain, distention just to name a few of the many symptoms
Are you suffering from any of these symptoms? If so, you could be Gluten Intolerant.
This health system takes gluten-free living to the next level. It’s the only program of its kind that provides delicious gluten-free recipes together with proven food pairing techniques to give you the fastest, most effective, and most complete digestive relief possible.
Personally I like the Paleo diet because because it is an anti-inflammatory diet:
– mostly veggies, – salads, – fish, – lots of GRASS-fed animal products like lamb, beef, bison, chicken, turkey, and eggs, – fruit, – healthy nuts, – healthy fats like butter, – small amounts of dark chocolate, – but no grains at all.
The whole basis of the diet is to concentrate on foods rich in healthy ratio of omega 3 to omega 6, which is ideally 1:1. Grain-fed animal products contain unhealthy ratio of 1:20 which causes and contributes to inflammation in the body, and therefore disease. Also grass-fed animal products contain important CLA, which you cannot get from any other source.
Why is an anti-inflammatory diet so important?
Because inflammation is the underlying cause to all disease – not just IBD, UC, Crohn’s, but Heart Disease, Arthritis, Alzheimer’s Disese, and Cancer as well. So, if you can reduce the inflammatory levels in your body, you will be healthy and greatly reduce your risk factors for getting these diseases.
Per Dr. Andrew Weil, “…It is becoming increasingly clear that chronic inflammation is the root cause of many serious illnesses – including heart disease, many cancers, and Alzheimer’s disease. We all know inflammation on the surface of the body as local redness, heat, swelling and pain. It is the cornerstone of the body’s healing response, bringing more nourishment and more immune activity to a site of injury or infection. But when inflammation persists or serves no purpose, it damages the body and causes illness. Stress, lack of exercise, genetic predisposition, and exposure to toxins (like secondhand tobacco smoke) can all contribute to such chronic inflammation, but dietary choices play a big role as well. Learning how specific foods influence the inflammatory process is the best strategy for containing it and reducing long-term disease risks…”.
Here are some important resources that speaks to the Paleo Diet, and the importance of going Gluten Free:
PALEO, It Will Change Your Life
After much research, I’ve found the best PALEO plan (there are quite a few out there), it’s called The Primal Blueprint – and I would like to share the tools to help make your transition into PALEO a success.
The reason I love this program is because it gives you all the tools you need: Cookbook, an easy Meals Cookbook, A Meal Planner, a Journal, and Meal Replacements (GLUTEN FREE AND GOOD FOR YOU!) – for when you don’t have the time to cook or are on the go. So the program is already built for you!
Here are some of the exiciting components in this program:

The dream of eating satisfying meals—even on a budget—controlling weight and feeling great has now become a reality. Make your transition to Primal eating easy and fun with this innovative cookbook from Primal Blueprint author Mark Sisson, and acclaimed chef/food writer/photographer Jennifer Meier. New to grass-fed? You can read https://eatwild.com/basics.html,
where you can read about Grass-Fed Basics, by Jo Robinson.
by Jo Robinson
Back to Pasture. Since the late 1990s, a growing number of ranchers have stopped sending their animals to the feedlots to be fattened on grain, soy and other supplements. Instead, they are keeping their animals home on the range where they forage on pasture, their native diet. These new-age ranchers do not treat their livestock with hormones or feed them growth-promoting additives. As a result, the animals grow at a natural pace. For these reasons and more, grass-fed animals live low-stress lives and are so healthy there is no reason to treat them with antibiotics or other drugs.
More Nutritious. A major benefit of raising animals on pasture is that their products are healthier for you. For example, compared with feedlot meat, meat from grass-fed beef, bison, lamb and goats has less total fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, and calories. It also has more vitamin E, beta-carotene, vitamin C, and a number of health-promoting fats, including omega-3 fatty acids and “conjugated linoleic acid,” or CLA. Love To Eat Out, But Afraid To?
… We all know that Gluten is bad for those of us that suffer with IBD, UC, Crohn’s, and IBS.
The Triumph Dining Team has obsessively researched what’s gluten-free for us. Stop wondering. Get answers. And get on with your life.
Enjoy Eating Out, But Are Afraid To Because of Gluten?
For those of us who like to eat out (and eat in too), these are great resources:
Eating gluten-free in restaurants can be tough. Menus rarely list every ingredient in a dish. Food preparation happens behind closed doors. And cross-contamination is a constant risk.
Frankly, we wouldn’t blame you for just giving up and staying home. (We’ve been there.)
Whether you’re gluten free by choice or necessity, your options shouldn’t be limited or boring. There are so many great gluten free restaurants and menu options out there, and we believe it’s a shame when any of us feels we need to work extra-hard just to order the foods we love.
Since 2005, the Triumph Dining team has spent thousands of hours developing the most comprehensive gluten-free restaurant guide in North America, dining cards that help you order gluten free at restaurants where language barriers can make things even more difficult, and a popular gluten-free grocery guide to help you find the groceries you need — even if you’re traveling and all that’s available is a supermarket whose brands you don’t know.
The Essential Gluten-Free Restaurant Guide
- Over 6,500 delicious gluten-free restaurants
- 100 gluten-free lists from chains like P.F. Chang’s, Panera, and Subway
- Covers all 50 states in an easy-to-use state-by-state directory
- The only restaurant database (print or online) where every listing is verified and updated each year
- 5th edition, includes over 460 pages!
“Triumph Dining has done an amazing job of putting together a book that will help millions of gluten free people! I would recommend this book to everyone.”- Dylan’s Gluten Freedom Blog
“We love your gluten free guide. I feel like we can travel anywhere and find somewhere for my son to eat…Thanks for opening up a whole new world of traveling without always having to pack an ice chest.” – Kelly Doyle, Twain Harte, CA
“I put together GF dining out events all over Chicago for CSA/GC. I owe a huge part of my success and inspiration to you — because of providing our community with great dining out resources. At all my events I ALWAYS bring your book with me to share with others AND they are thrilled to find out about it and how HELPFUL it is.” – Bruce Zarlengo, Chicago, IL
“Do you have it yet? Why not? Go get it. This is a must have book.” – Lea is Gluten Free Blog
“When we went on vaction to Southern California, it was very helpful. It will be useful to use for local restaurants as well. The book has a lot of information, one of the best purchases I have made since being diagnosed as a Celiac a year ago. I am more willing to eat out now that I have your book.” – Deborah Anderson, Acampo, CA
“Thanks to the wonderful Triumph Dining folks. I can relax just a little — we know eating out is risky, and I won’t ever let my guard down, but this book is a great help!” – Gluten Free in Georgia Blog
“This book is a great resource for business travelers and families who travel a lot so that they can save time and anxiety and focus on other things…No doubt I will be dogearing and annotating this book quite a bit when we are on the road.” – Wheat-Free, Meat-Free Blog

“My husband has Celiac so this is my bible when I make out my grocery list. It makes life much easier for both of us. Thank you for making this product available.” – Pat Korner, Canton Center, CT
“It has been very helpful for me! I carry it in my purse or the car – always. It especially helped around Christmas time because I thought I would not be able to have any of the traditional family fudge that I make every year. But, I was very excited to see that some of the ingredients I needed for the recipe I could get right at our local grocery store and they were gluten free! I made the fudge and didn’t get sick, which is a miracle. I also found out that a lot of things I thought I had to give up actually don’t have gluten in them and I can have them again, which I’ve done without getting sick. Thank you for offering this.” – Kelly Doyle, Twain Harte, CA
“I have been GF for over 30 years. I didn’t see a need for the grocery guide since I have been doing this for so long. Then I saw that a new edition had been published and decided to get one. I was surprised at how many things are now GF that had been illegal before. I am often contacted by folks who are newly diagnosed, and I have a packet of information I send to them via e-mail. I recommend these Guides in those pages of information.” – Beve Wenrich, Geigertown, PA
“I actually purchased [the guide] for my mother–who has found it much easier to shop for me. These are very good resources–especially for my family members who can never remember what I can & cannot have to eat. This was one of my best purchases since I was diagnosed.” – Stacey Dougherty, Northampton, PA
“It’s a good book. It’s going to go in the car and stay there, so I always have it handy for those quick last-minute trips to the store.”– Gluten-Free Steve Blog
